"Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad. "You are not yet fifty years old," the Jews said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!""
Much of what goes on in the Middle East today is a direct result of some of the choices Abraham made around 1950 B.C. Those decisions created a feud between Abraham's two sons, Ishmael and Isaac, and they are the very reason The Arab - Jewish Conflict exists today.
Abraham had to decide between two choices. He could either stay in the comforts and familiarities of where he was, or follow God's promises to gather his family and belongings and venture out to regions unknown to him. It was a decision between the security he knew and a promise from God.
Abraham had no idea of how much of the future was resting on the decisions he would make as his obedience would eventually affect the history of the world. His decision to set out and follow the promised blessings from God set into motion the development of the nation that God would eventually use as His own when he visited Earth for Himself. When Jesus Christ came to Earth, God's promise was fulfilled as through Abraham the entire world was blessed.
